therapy in TX + CO

This might sound like you…

  • you overthink your relationships

  • you feel disconnected, even when things seem “fine”

  • you keep repeating patterns

  • part of you understands—but it doesn’t change

This isn’t about trying harder.

If you could think your way out of this, you probably already would have. The patterns you’re experiencing make sense - they just haven’t been fully understood yet.

Therapy that actually helps things shift.

My work is focused on helping you understand why these patterns are happening - so you can actually change them, not just cope with them.

together, we’ll look at how your past experiences are still shaping the way you feel, relate, and move through your life today.

More than just talking about it.

EMDR helps your nervous system process what it hasn’t been able to fully move through - so you’re not just talking about your experiences, you’re actually starting to feel different.

Lauren Petka

MA, LPC, EMDR Certified (she/her)

Welcome! I’m a therapist passionate about creating nonjudgmental spaces where you can explore with curiosity. I am an integrative therapist, meaning I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach. I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches, including experiential therapy, EMDR therapy, attachment theory, and existential theory.

Our belief systems have been built through our life experiences, narratives from childhood, and early experiences. These belief systems shape the ways we view ourselves and the world around us. Through our work together, we will uncover what those are, and create new beliefs, experiences and narratives that feel more authentic to you in the now.

Throughout my practice, I have found that one of the most significant ways that the brain can change, is through the neural networks in our subcortical brain. Experiential modalities work best to activate these parts of our brain to illicit the change you desire. Experiential therapy focuses on the here and now. Through increased awareness in not only our brain but also in our body, we can shift the ways we think.

I believe, and research supports, that the rapport between therapist and client is essential for successful therapy. For this reason, I prioritize the therapeutic relationship, placing it at the forefront of our work together. My journey into this world began as a client, as I understand both sides of the relationship.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of where to turn next, individual therapy offers a grounded, non-judgmental place to land. We’ll explore what’s going on beneath the surface—stress, identity, relationships, trauma, or anything else you’re carrying—and make sense of it together.
You’ll set the tone, and I’ll walk with you as we work toward clarity, confidence, and healing.

COUPLES THERAPY

$175 - 50 min.

Whether you’re navigating communication issues, conflict cycles, trust concerns, intimacy challenges, or big transitions, we’ll explore what’s happening beneath the surface—together.

EMDR THERAPY

EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) helps you process the memories, triggers, and beliefs that keep you stuck, so you can finally feel relief instead of just coping. It’s a gentle, structured approach that supports your mind and body in releasing old patterns and rebuilding a sense of safety within yourself.
